It is useful to follow some standard conventions when writing about poetry. Love poems have been an integral part of any literature, whether it is Western or Oriental.
Write some wonderful lines in verse in a mother's day greeting card and attach it to her equally well chosen gift. It will be a compliment to the bond that you share with her. Even if your poem won't win any literary prizes, the person you present it to will most likely treasure it as if it were composed by one of the great Romantic poets.
Even though they have lost much of their popularity, romance poems can never stop working because they form an instant bond between two hearts through the medium of language. Romantic poems, even if they are just four lines, with no rhythm and no rhyme scheme, depict the true feelings of lovers. If the person enjoys the outdoors, maybe a poem with colorful forest or nature like imagery would speak to the audience.
